The vet did say possibly 6......

So when I went to the vet to have Roxy X-Rayed, the vet said definitely 5, possibly six....the third picture is what we entitled "First Feeding".....we thought 5, we are done....4 black, 1 chocolate....if you look at the picture, you can see the chocolate one first, he was puppy #2 and we are calling him Chewbacca (need to check spelling)....next to him is Vader, puppy #1, then next to him is #3, the smallest of the litter, his name is Yoda. Next to him is #4, Han Solo and next to Han is #5, a little girl we are calling Galaxy....we thought we were done.
Not quite....just when we least expected it, Roxy gave us #6, a beautiful chocolate female. Queen Amidala. Ok Ok Ok...for those that are having issues with the names from Star Wars...lighten up...most litters are named around themes....I could have gone for an Irish them seeing that St. Paddy's is around the bend, but for as long as I've had Rumba, I've always thought that he looked like an Ewok....and then when I got Roxy, she looks like a Wookie....so...I'm going Star Wars for my babies.

Darth Vader is born!!

Roxy finally went into labor....after about 24 hours of her showing real signs of discomfort, at about 11:00 Monday night, she started panting heavily, kept going outside to potty...and she shed her mucus plug, we knew that finally the night was upon us....we just had no idea how long it would all take.
At about midnight, we could see her contractions and she started to push....it took her an hour, but she got through it and Darth Vader was born! He's all black, not a hint of white anywhere and he was an enourmous 8.7 ounces, the biggest of all the puppies.
I'm a bit apprehensive about naming him Darth Vader because people might think he's the evil puppy...but my niece Rachel and I think he was the big one turning sommersaults in Roxy's belly (a little bit evil), and in the end....Vader did the right thing.....stay tuned, name may be subject to change......

Roxy gets a haircut!!

We want Roxy to be as comfortable as possible during her delivery, so....in spite of Ta's horror of her loosing her natural beauty, Roxy got her first haircut! I think she still looks adorable. You can definitely see her growing belly and now I don't need to give her a hairdo in order to see her amazing eyes. We are getting excited, nervous and anxious for these puppies to arrive.
For those not familiar with Havanese, their coats don't shed, they just grow like hair, her coat will grow back, but it takes a few months. So for those that want all the fun, comedy, companionship, and good nature of a Havanese, but don't want to brush a coat every other day, a clip is an easy way of getting everything you want.

We have a big belly momma who really only wants to sleep if it weren't for those crazy puppies....we found out that Roxy will have 5, possibly 6 puppies!!! Yikes!! I hope that Ta's ready...lol.
Everyday we wake up and her belly is bigger. If I put my hands on her belly I can feel the puppies move. It really is incredible how fast they grow. My poor Roxy just looks tired and worn out and she still has a lot of hard work ahead of her.

When I started thinking about a companion for Rumba I knew that I wanted a Chocolate Havanese. Havanese come in all sorts of colors, by breed standard they are all supposed to have black noses and black eyes expect for the Chocolates....they have brown noses and different colored eyes....as you can see Roxy's eyes are a combo of green and amber....I can't help but cave to all of her demands.

She's been such a great addition to our family. So smart and funny, she gives Rumba a run for his money everyday. She's very ball motivated so will play chase for hours and loves a good long fun in the church parking lot for her squeaky balls.

She is also a great type of the Havanese breed, great bite, wonderful coat, and so sweet. Because I have a weak spot for her, she definitely pushes her boundaries more, but follows me like a shadow everywhere I go.

Rumba is our sweet boy. He's 2.5 years old and really can melt your heart with his big dark eyes. He's a great type of the Havanese breed, wonderful temperment, great coat, perfect bite and so smart. Because the Havanese are not very vocal, we trained Rumba to ring bells to let us know that he needs to go outside to potty.

He took that knowledge and skill and now uses it to his advantage when he wants some extra attention. He'll ring the bell, we get our bodies off the couch and he picks up his chew toy for a great game of chase. He changed our lives in all the best ways. Unconditional love and loads of humor. He loves to ride in the car and gets stir crazy if he can't get out for a good wind in the face drive. He also loves to shop with me. Gets right in the basket and lays down until he pops up unexpectedly to the surprise of other shoppers.

Rumba is what I call an ambassador of the Havanese breed, he let's kids dote on him and will lick right up the nose if he gets a chance. Because they are such a social breed, we wanted to get a little partner for him and let's just say he's in love with Roxy!

For those of you that don't know, my little girl Roxy is expecting! She should have her first litter beginning of March. I have to admit that I am horrified that it's a teenage pregnancy, but call it hormones or love...Rumba can't get enough of his pregnant partner in crime.
